The Eastern Produce Council kicked of its fall season of events with an event at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Tuesday, September 16th.

Sponsoring the event were Idaho Potato Commission, Oppenheimer, and Shuman Farms. EPC Vice President, Gary Roselli, thanked the sponsors, welcomed the large crowd in attendance, and gave an update on upcoming EPC events and the EPC Leadership Program.

The three sponsors gave brief updates on their companies and the importance of the Metro New York Market. Trish James, Chief Marketing Officer of Shuman Farms, Bill Poulos, Executive Director, Grapes & Stonefruit of The Oppenheimer Group and Ross Johnson, Vice President – Retail & International of Idaho Potato Commission represented their companies with remarks before turning of the night over to guest speaker, Amani Toomer.

Amani played college football at the University of Michigan, played his entire NFL career with the New York Giants, and is a proud member of the 2007 Super Bowl Team. He is #16 on the list of the Top 100 Giants players of all time and currently works in radio for ESPN New York. He shared a lot of candid experiences from his time in the NFL with the audience and how success on the field can be transferred to business. Amani and the sponsors had a fun time leading a raffle of dozens of prizes including signed footballs and corporate gifts.

Next up on the EPC’s calendar is the Joe DeLorenzo Family Apple Picking Event at Melick Farm in Oldwick, NJ on Saturday, September 27th from 10am-12pm and the New York Produce Show set for December 2nd-4th.
